This exhibition questions certainties and promotes contributions from other cultures in the construction of the European identity based on the theme of “Arabic numerals”. It is based on doubt in the face of established truths and passed on without any critical spirit. It is to question appearance in order to reach the substance in its historical and philosophical condition. This project is the history of Indian numerals (from a cultural point of view and not a mathematical one) in its interaction with other cultures. How do these numerals belong, culturally, to the entire world. They are universal. What were the cultural interactions across the journey of these numerals from India to us in Europe? The project attempts to bring together facts as tools for questioning and critical interpretation.
